Zoya Nail Polish: Vegan, Halal, and Eco-Friendly Beauty for All Ages

How Well Do You Know Your Zoya Nail Polish?

Zoya isn't just about beautiful nails—it's about a commitment to health, sustainability, and ethical beauty. Halal, vegan, child-friendly, non-toxic, with biodegradable glitter and packaging—our products are designed with both you and the planet in mind. In this post, we’ll answer some of the most common questions about our nail polishes.

Discover what makes Zoya your go-to brand for people- and planet-friendly beauty, and share your newfound knowledge with loved ones to promote healthier, more sustainable beauty choices.

Is the Glitter in Zoya Polishes Biodegradable?

Yes, it is! We use plastic-free glitter in our polishes, known as mica—a natural mineral that adds a gorgeous sparkle. Depending on the size of the mica particles, you can achieve different levels of shimmer, effects, and colours.

The shimmer effect is created by coating mica with an oxide, typically titanium dioxide. By adding more layers of this oxide, we can produce a range of colours. Since all these ingredients are naturally occurring, our polishes are non-toxic, Big 10 free, cruelty-free, and 100% vegan.

Can You Recycle Zoya Nail Polish Bottles and Packaging?

Absolutely! Our nail polish bottles are made from recyclable glass, and the plastic used for our brushes and lids is recyclable too.

Most of our polishes come in fully recyclable cardboard packaging, and our larger orders are packed with biodegradable peanuts that dissolve in water without harming the environment. While some older polishes may still come in plastic packaging, these are fully recyclable and have since been discontinued.

When recycling Zoya bottles, please ensure they are clean and dry before placing them in the recycling.

At What Age Is It Safe to Use Zoya Nail Polish on Children?

Thanks to our non-toxic, Big 10 free formula—free from carcinogens and harmful chemicals, and breathable, vegan, cruelty-free, and pregnancy-safe—our polishes are safe to use at any age. However, we recommend starting at 4-5 years and above.

Always supervise children during application. Swallowing or contact with the eyes, mouth, nose, or throat can be dangerous. When not in use, keep nail polish out of children's reach.

I Love the Zoya Z-Wide Brush, But Is It Supposed to Sit Higher on the Bottle?

Yes! Our specially designed exchangeable bottle cap technology allows you to choose the brush size that suits you best, ensuring a professional-quality manicure at home.

To secure the Zoya cap, simply push it down—it will seal perfectly. Watch our tutorial video here for more details.

Is Zoya Remove+ Nail Polish Remover Cruelty-Free? Why Are There Asian Writings on the Box?

Our entire product line, including the award-winning 3-in-1 Remove+ nail polish remover, is 100% cruelty-free. We have never tested on animals, and our products reflect our commitment to safer, cleaner beauty.

The packaging includes multiple languages for global distribution.

Has Zoya Always Been 10 Free? Some Older Polishes Mention Only 5-Free.

Zoya has always been a pioneer in the nail polish industry, and we’ve led the way in creating Big 3, Big 5, and later Big 10 free formulas. Our polishes have always been Big 10 free, but the term "Big 10 free" only became widespread in 2016. Before that, we used the term "Big 5 free," which was the industry standard at the time.

Is Zoya Nail Polish Halal?

Yes, our nail polishes are 100% non-toxic, vegan, pregnancy-safe, breathable, and water-permeable, making them halal. Please note that we comply with government regulatory health agencies and guidelines, not private organizations. For optimal water permeability, we recommend applying thin coats.
